So much to savour on this special journey through Croatia and Slovenia with a little taste of Venice and Mostar thrown in. Visit the karst caves of Postojna, the castles of Predjama and Bled, picturesque open-air markets, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, historic churches, palaces and bridges as well as the spectacular Plitvice Lakes National Park before joining our deluxe small ship for a cruise along the Adriatic Coast. Wine and food tasting along the way will give us a true introduction to the real Croatia and Slovenia.

• Cheese tasting at the Alpine Dairy Museum in Bohinj in Slovenia The four rooms of the museum - once a cheese dairy itself - contain a mock-up of a mid-19th-century herder's cottage, old photographs, cheese presses, wooden butter moulds, copper vats, enormous snowshoes and sledges, and wonderful hand-carved shepherds' crooks.
• Visit the 15th century Ljubljana Castle in Slovenia Take the funicular up to Ljubljana Castle for magnificent views across the city and the Alps.
• Wander the narrow cobbled streets of Piran in Slovenia Piran was once an important medieval town on the tip of the Istrian Peninsula. Wander through the atmospheric town with Venetian Gothic architecture.
Your ship : ms Prestige This brand new vessel boasts modern facilities with an abundance of space and comfortable living areas; the salon features large windows and comfortable seating, bar, and dining facilities with an outdoor terrace. The majority of leisure time on-board is spent on the spacious 'Sun Deck' with whirlpool, relaxed sun chairs/lounges, large shaded area and background music. To make the most of every swimming opportunity there is a platform with a ladder for easy access to the water.
Day 1: Auckland > Dubai Fly from Auckland to Dubai travelling overnight.
Day 2: Dubai > Venice Arrive Dubai and take a connecting flight to Venice. We transfer by private water taxi to our hotel.
Day 3: Venice (B,D) Enjoy a walking tour of Venice, we will visit St Mark's Square and the Doge's Palace - two important landmarks of the city. Afternoon at leisure and enjoy a welcome dinner this evening.
Day 4 : Venice > Postojna > Ljubljana (B) Today we drive across the border into Slovenia and visit the wonderful subterranean world of Postojna Cave. Photo stop at Predjama castle and continue to Ljubljana for a walking tour of the picturesque open-air Central Market, the Triple Bridge, Town Hall and Robba Fountain.
Day 5: Bled (B) Visit the charming town of Bled and see imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. Visit Bohinj for a museum visit and cheese tasting. Return to Ljubljana for overnight.
Day 6: Ljubljana > Zagreb (B) Today we drive towards Zagreb. Visit the historic Upper Town, full of charm. Everywhere there are traces of the city's turbulent past. Entry is through the only remaining medieval city gate and there is a small shrine where residents pray and light candles. Visit St Mark's Church, St Catherine's Church, the Cathedral and Presidential Palace.
Day 7: Zagreb > Plitvice (B,D) Today we travel south to the famous Plitvice Lakes National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk around the lower lakes and see the 16 terraced lakes surrounded by thickly wooded mountains. We will stay in simple accommodation in the National Park tonight.
Day 8: Plitvice > Split (B) Travel to the pretty town of Trogir, a centre known for artistic activities. Scholars from around the world gather here to study and paint. Continue to Split for overnight.
Day 9: Split (B,D) Morning at leisure and transfer to our ship the ms Prestige to check in. Captain's reception this evening.
Day 10: Split > Brac > Hvar (B,L) Enjoy a guided walking tour of Split. Visit the historic inner city, built around the Roman Emperor Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set sail towards Bol, a small town on the Island of Brac, for a swim at the Golden Horn. Then on to Hvar and overnight on board at Stari Grad, one of the oldest towns in Europe.
Day 11: Hvar > Vis (B,L) Sightseeing in Hvar includes the first public theatre in Europe and the Franciscan Monastery. Then we cruise to Vis, a lovely town which has retained its charm. It has some of the best beaches in the country and fabulous fresh seafood.
Day 12: Vis > Korcula (B,L) Cruise to Korcula Island, thought to be the birthplace of Marco Polo. Our port of call for the day is Vela Luka, dating back to pre-historic times. In the afternoon visit an olive oil factory, Ethno Museum Barilo and we will visit a winery to taste some delicious local wine and cheese.
Day 13 : Korcula (B,L) Take a walking tour through Korcula's narrow, cobbled streets and visit the majestic Gothic Baroque Cathedral of St. Mark.
Day 14: Korcula > Mljet (B,L,D) Sail to forested Mljet Island, dotted with fields, vineyards and small villages. See Mljet National Park with its many species of birds, and two spectacular saltwater lakes. The island was supposedly a favourite holiday spot for the Greek hero Odysseus! Captain's dinner with live entertainment aboard our ship tonight.
Day 15: Mljet > Dubrovnik (B,L) Cruise to Dubrovnik, one of the world's most magnificent walled cities. We will enjoy a walking tour to explore the city's marble streets and baroque buildings. Highlights include the Rector's Palace and Franciscan Church and Monastery with its historic pharmacy. Enjoy a final night on board the ms Prestige.
Day 16: Dubrovnik > Mostar (B) Disembark our ship and travel to Mostar, a city in Bosnia and Herzegovina, straddling the Neretva River. Explore the town including the stone bridge, renovated to the original Ottoman plans after the civil war. Overnight in Mostar.
Day 17: Mostar > Split (B) Today we will return to the Croatian coast and overnight in Split.
Day 18: Split > Opatija (B,D) We travel north along the Adriatic coast to Opatija, a resort town popular with the Habsburgs in the 19th Century. Stroll the welcoming and elegant promenade before dinner in a local restaurant.
Day 19: Istrian Peninsula (B) Today we travel towards mystical Motovun village and on to Pula to visit the well-preserved Roman amphitheatre that dominates the town centre. On our guided walking tour this morning we will also see the Triumphal Arc of Sergi, the Temple of Augustus and the Gate of Hercules. Return to Opatija for overnight.
Day 20: Opatija > Piran > Venice (B) After breakfast we travel to Piran. Explore the narrow, cobbled streets of the once very important medieval town on the tip of the peninsula. Transfer to Venice where we overnight.
Day 21: Venice > Dubai (B) Fly to Dubai and transfer to our hotel for a few hours rest.
Day 22: Dubai > Auckland Connect to our onward flight travelling overnight.
Day 23: Auckland Arrival in Auckland.
