Blue Train

Follow in the footsteps of Kings and Presidents who have travelled on this magnificent, moving five-star "hotel-on-wheels" . On board The Blue Train, luxury assumes a new dimension, and becomes the working definition of everything your heart desires. You will feel it from the moment you step into your suite of choice: the twin-bedded De Luxe with shower, the double-bedded De Luxe with bath; or the twin or double-bedded Luxury suites, both with baths. All of the suites are transformed from elegant, spacious lounges by day, into sanctuaries of comfort and slumber by night.

The 27-hour journey between Pretoria and Cape Town promises some of the most diverse and spectacular scenery the sub-continent has to offer. You'll travel around the awe-inspiring mountain ranges that dot the continent, through the apparently arid desert landscapes and over untamed savannah grasslands. This is best enjoyed in the elegant lounge car (with the accompaniment of high tea or a predinner drink) with its large picture windows which flood the carriage with panoramic views of the passing countryside. Should you prefer a more relaxing ambience, then the club car offers card tables, a small library and a fully-equipped bar - as well as a fine selection of Cuban cigars. Southbound, off train excursions include the diamond town of Kimberley where one can explore the Big Hole and the Diamond Museum. Northbound, guests can visit the quaint historical town of Matjiesfontein, where time seems to have stood still. As one would expect, The Blue Train serves up only the best of fine dining experiences complimented by a selection of superb South African wines.
